Reminder from the Council President

Hello,
BE A BUDDY: Being part of the Pensacola Beach Community Church means being part of a family. And we want our newest members to feel that they are a part of the church family as well, especially since we’ve added many new families to our church in the last 2 years.

The council would like to set up a “buddy” system, where a member of the church becomes a “buddy” to one of our newest members. It’s not a hard lift. Just staying in contact with the new member, say, once a month, either through a phone call, text or even just saying hello at church service.

If you would like to get involved more in our church, please volunteer to be a buddy. Call the church office at 850-932-6628 or email Cori at pnsbeachchurch@att.net and she’ll put you in touch with Cindy Bailey to set it up.

FULL MOON FELLOWSHIP: We are going to do another Full Moon Fellowship. It’s set for Friday, May 5 and Dale and Ron Hensley have graciously offered to host it again at their home, 1755 Ensenada Dos, Pensacola Beach.

We will start the fellowship at 6:30 p.m. since the moon rises at 7:45 p.m. The council will provide snacks and you are welcome to bring a lawn chair and your beverage of choice. Keep in mind that May 5 is also Cinco de Mayo day!

Yours in Christ,

Gordon Paulus,
Council president

Clean Up and Clean Out!

Saturday, May 6 at 10am

Join us for spring cleaning! We'll wash windows, vacuum, clean out closets, etc. The focus will be on the sanctuary. Please join us!

Mark your calendars for our Italian Family Dinner!

Want to read a good book… and make friends too?

Join us in a book group on Zoom in May!  We’ll read “Help, Thanks. Wow: The Three Essential Prayers” by Anne Lamott.  It’s a brief, insightful, humorous book about prayer and growing spiritually.

“I try to write the books …that are honest, concerned with real lives, human hearts, spiritual transformation, families, secrets, wonder, craziness—and that can make me laugh. … I feel rich and profoundly relieved to be in the presence of someone who will share the truth with me, and throw the lights on a little, and I try to write these kinds of books.” Anne Lamott

We’ll meet for three Wednesdays starting on May 10th from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.  We’ll use Zoom so that those of us who live some distance away can be involved without having to drive to the beach. Book groups not only get us reading good material, but they help us get to know one another better as well!

You can get the book on Amazon in hardback or on Kindle.

Allocating your offerings

Thank you for your tithes and offerings to support the operations and mission of our church. Almost all disbursements for the operations (mortage, insurance, compensation of pastor and administrative assistant, utilities, repairs, music program, supplies, etc.) are paid with operating funds, so this is critical for our church. If you intend that part of your offering be for anything other than operations, please send an email to pnsbeachchurch@att.net with the subject: Treasurer Offering Detail so that your wishes will be honored. For special items (for example, event tickets, Interfaith or Florida UCC support, and T-shirt purchases), please make a note on your check or send a message. Thank you!
